Chynna Phillips Hair Gilliam Chynna Phillips was born February 12, 1968 in Los Angeles, CA. Her parents are John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas And The Papas. Chynna was friends with Carnie and Wendy Wilson since she was a child since Carnie and Wendy's parents were also famous (Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys). The pamphlet of the "Wilson Phillips Greatest Hits" CD says this: "By the mid-80's, Chynna and her friend Owen Elliot, daughter of The Mamas And The Papas' Cass, were pursuing acting careers. Inspired by the troubled legacy of musician-parents like their own, they decided to record a song with other '60's offspring to benefit an anti-drug cause, somewhat in the vein of all-star charity recordings like We Are The World. They enlisted the Wilson sisters and the four began working together. Soon after, Elliot opted to pursue her own career and the group became a trio. Producer Richard Perry began to cultivate their sound, hooking them up with songwriter, Glen Ballard and circulating their demo to record companies." The rest is history. They chose the name Wilson Phillips because of their last names and their first album was self-titled with 3 major hits- Hold On, Release Me, and You're In Love. Their second album, Shadows and Light, was released in 1992 and it did not fair as well as their first. Soon after the group broke up with The Wilsons and Chynna Phillips both pursuing separate solo careers. Chynna released her solo album, Naked and Sacred in 1995, the same year in which she married actor William Baldwin (they are still married today). They have two kids, Jamison (a girl) aged 2 and and Vance Alexander, almost 1 year old. In 2001 Chynna, Wendy Wilson and Carnie Wilson started writing songs for a reunion album, Wilson Phillips' first album in 9 years since their breakup. ENTER HERE |
